96 Challenger - storage compatments

I just bought 96 Challenger (14' - 787) - Is their supposed to be a bin / liner for the compatment right behind the rear facing seat?

Also, latch is broken for the small compatment ON (not in) the engine compatment cover. Can these latches be replaced? - Where to buy them?

On my '97 Challenger, there is a black styrofoam liner with a drain on the bottom. This is there to enable the use of this compartment as a cooler. I have seen on Seadoo's website where they fill this with ice and use it as a cooler.

:agree: Any water in that compartment drains into the hull and back towards the engine comp. where the bilge deals with it. I use mine to stow my fenders & lines.

The one in my 98 Sportster 1800 (which has a very similar hull) is also lined in styrofoam. I never tried putting ice in it. It has a little cup holder shaped opening against the hull side, I guess it is either for a small fire extinguisher or whiskey bottle. I find it handy for storing water bottles and snack along with t-shirts. It seems to be one of the only places that stays dry when buzzing around the river.

my 96 (bought a week ago) is lined with black styrofoam. it will work for ice.

the latches seemed expensive when I looked around
i was told they were common southco's
i measured mine @ 2" 1/4 (outside) and it appears they sell the 2 and the 2.5

so i was hesitant since I wasn't sure which one to order, but I sure as hell wasn't paying $65 for plastic ones !:o

i need to pull one and measure the hole itself I guess, had plenty of other issues so this was moved to the back burner

for the record, i ordered the southco 2" latches off of fleabay, $70 shipped for 3 new white ones.
should arrive early next week., i considered going stanless and might have if I planned on owning the boat for a long time but since there is NO other chrome on the boat, the white made sense.
