**96 Challenger - Reving issue**

I am looking a buying a 96 Chellenger with a single 787. Boat is out of water & has a new engine. When it is started It will not rev - I was told that this is a saftey feature to protect the engine since their is no load on it.

Is this true? also, what is the approx value of this boat? ( good interior and new engine)

Thanks for any info on this !!!!!!!

Boat values are a weird subject, kinda like motorcycles, its not how much it is blue book valued, but how much it is worth to the buyer.

Even if the boat is out of the water, you can still put it in FWD or REV and the engine will operate normally.

So their is no neutral saftey switch or rev limiter to protect the engine? It should rev the same out of water as it does in the water?

Yes they have a neutral safety switch. They will only hit like 3000 or 3500, i cant remember which, when in neutral. I have never put mine in gear while out of water, so i honestly dont know if it overrides that.

Also, that is where it will idle when out of water (3000 rpm) with no load on the engine.
