My 96 challenger runs fine, but could probably run better. Besides cleaning the Rave valves I don't think this boat has been maintained in any way. I finally have the time to work on it. I have only had it for about 1.5 yrs.

I unscrewed the fuel filter which had a lot of gunk in it, and just cleaned and sun dried it and reinstalled it. I'm also replacing the oil filter. What else should I do? Should I think about replacing wear rings, or should the jet pump oil need to be cleaned because its so old? I just want to maintain it as well as possible Does anybody have a schedule of maintenance?

Also, is it normal to have a filthy engine bay on a boat this age?

You should change the pump oil every year, or make sure that no water has seeped into the cone. Use a bilge cleaner or if it was like mine, de-greaser to clean out the engine bay.

If you read through the manual in the library of manuals you will see a recommended service schedule to perform if you want to. The manual is a bible when it comes to repairs and maintenance. On every Jet boat I ever owned the hull are clean enough to eat off of.
