Hi
Removed the front cover on my 96 800xp this morning ( dead jetski brought as a winter project) and found it to be very corroded inside ,one of the 3 white/yellow wires from the multiplug to the stator is broken just as it joins the windings ! so i guess its another part that needs replacing?
I was hoping to be able to gently wiggle the seized pistons back and forth with the 27mm centre nut but the nut just comes undone .Is there anywhere else i can attach a socket to apply some gentle pressure to the crank ?
Sorry i would post the pics but it wont seem to let me .
Thanks

If the stator isn't damaged... just solder the wire back on. It's not a big deal.

As far as the locked up engine.... if the pistons are rusted to the cyl walls... then there is a good chance that the crank is shot too. If there was a "Melt-down"... then there could be a hunk of piston down in the crank. Either way... it may not turn. Try to take the cyl's off first.

An impeller removal tool will fit in the pto load the cylinders up with penetrating oil and let it sit and slowly rock the crank back and forth. Don't rush it, personally, I'd get a new stator if it's corroded real bad.

Oops sorry put it in the wrong forum and don't know how to move it !
Yes did think it might solder but it's broke in quite an aqward place very close to the windings and it is pretty corroded .
The pistons seem to be rusted in place , they look very good condition from the top you can see it's the ring that is stuck to the wall , and the bores look to be ok , well the bit you can see is , however I have no idea when it last ran so I'm worried the crank is now a solid lump of rust ! I have had release fluid in there for a few days but can't get a decent enough grip to be able to rock it ! I'll unbolt the barrels and see if I can't free them that way next I guess .
Thanks for your replys
