Just an update, Got the counterbalance shaft all rebuilt, OEM parts. For anyone in Ontario, Ryan @ Jetx powersports did a fantastic job. Starting to reassemble shortly. Have most of the parts painted carbs are bead blasted and will be torn apart one more time (make sure no beads got in) and painted.

Sabr. The only difference I can find with the 2000 gtx is that there are two throttle cables (split, 1 to carbs 1 to oil pump) everything else seems fine. Same gauges, same info center, same MPEM clips, drive shafts are the same (i checked) Should be good to go. Have a little cosmetics to touch up (swap over rear grab handle, mine is cracked, touch up the sponsoons with a heat gun to get the black back, nice buff and a wax and its ready to hit the lake!

On a side note, i was looking at the oil injection lines and thought, if i've replaced every damn thing in this ski, why skimp on that? so what do people prefer? i have 3/32 tygon already done. Where do you get the bigger tygon? is there other clear stuff? already have a new filter to install as well

Anyone know what the oil injection hose sizes are for a 951? 1/4'' ID? I don't have access to any larger tygon fuel line (unless i order a 50' spool!) so I was checking out my local sled shop (known for a long time) and found some real nice blue polyurathane fuel tubing. Will that work? Any chemists in the audience? I've used it for fuel line before in sleds. After 3 years the lines are still nice and soft, even in the winter.

Almost there!

Well after a month of screwing around with my buddies ski, I had time to finish my own. (money pays for the toys after all) Anyways, got the engine all together. Painted and all. Looks almost new. pulled all the fuel lines out and the baffle. Replaced it all. Boy when people say 30$ for fuel line-sign me up! it was 70$ in fuel line! (25' spool of 5/16, 5 ft 1/4'') Also, tested the baffle out with the ohm meter. Sure enough no reading. Tore into the baffle and replaced the F1 fuse with solder joint. That fixed it. Hooked it all back together. Drained the fuel tank (kept an old fuel pump from a scrapped car. fits right down the baffle hole and pumped 3/4 tank of gas in like 3 minutes. No fighting with siphons!

Pressure washed the hull, didn't have de-greaser on hand, but it turned out pretty well. Drained the oil tank. It was full, looks like xps synthetic, but i'm not skimping on oil! figure i'll mix it in the first tank for break in. Swapped steering and choke cables from the donor ski and lubed up the console. I can steer with a finger now!

Now here's the fun part.... I noticed before the throttle cable split in two (1 for carbs, 1 for oil pump.) no big deal.. but now when i was hooking up the fuel baffle, I noticed at the junction, the throttle cable has a 3 wire connector coming off it-like a TPS. The MPEM is from a 98 ski. Will this affect anything? i hook up the key and everything works, beeper works, gauges work, info center responds.

I have the throttle cable from the 98 gtx, but unless this will for sure not work, I'll take my chances. I'm guessing these wires go to pins on the computer that aren't hooked up to anything on the 98 MPEM.

Should get the engine in this week. Been super busy. a month late of my goal, but it will be worth it after the break in. Thank goodness I have some young cousins that want to ride on a seadoo, so it will make the low speed break-in somewhat enjoyable lol.

Thanks Sabr. So should I unplug it, or leave it connected?

You really need your own site for 951 skis lol.

Its a 2000 GTX with a 1998 MPEM and engine.

MPEM fires up the ski and all gauges work as they should. My question is should i disconnect the TPS, or leave it and see what it does?

What does it do for the computer anyways? advance timing?

I'm not sure how you would connect it. even if you wire it up, the computer will most likely ignore it.

yes, it advances the timing.

Did I mention the magneto on a 98 is different than a 2000. also the ignition boxes will be different?
