Hello,

I have a 1995 XP 717, One afternoon riding I lost all power, got home did some reading on why the 5 amp fuse would blow, did some test (unplugged stator replaced fuse and connected to power and fuse didn't blow till i connected the stator back) and determined that it was the stator. So I replaced the stator with a new one and it still blows the 5 amp fuse when I plug it up. Now I am stuck and need some help

Any clue on what else I need to do or test?

The stator only opened the circuity. The real problem is that there is a short in the regulator.

I replaced the regulator and it still blows the 5 amp fuse. Should any of the wires off the stator have continuity?

The "Yellow" wires should show a little resistance... but not show to ground. (The yellow wires are from the charge coil)

Are you sure the new regulator is good? It should be isolating the stator coil from the system, if it's not charging.

When you disconnected the Magnito plug you disconnected the MPEM ground, thats why it didn't blow. The VTS module or the gauge can be bad and has a 7.5 protection fuse, but that system also has TWO power wires, and either can find its way back to the mpem and blow its 5A
protection fuse. So...that said, the next step is to disconnect the VTS system completely and retry with it disconnected. If it still blows, throw in the towel on your 278000423 mpem, most likely it toasted! If you remember you might have accidently jumped the ski from a running vehicle, OR you touched the Battery cables in reverse polarity, the MR2535L motorola diode only is toasted on the MPEM circuit board, and you can fix it cheaply yourself, it has been done many times by our forum members for a few bucs invested! You can set your nozzel at mid point if the VTS proves bad, and you can still ride your ski without VTS. I hope your 5Amp does NOT blow after you disconnect the harnesses.
Can finish the summer, and fix the VTS over winter. Much help in the How-To section of the forum also.

My VTS isn't hooked up to the MPEM I bought the "Trim Fix" off ebay and it runs on its own power wire and module, so it is on its own circut.

OK, ya got Todds deal, you're next step is MPEM. Good luck, lotsa posts on that here. Once ya get it out of the grey box and on your bench,
you could look at this test link: http://www.seadoosource.com/mpemtest.html There has been a recent post on your module repair.

Good luck!

Pulled my MPEM I thought the part # for mine 95 XP is supposed to be 278000423 but the one I pulled out is a 278001134.

Found out 278000423 superseded 278001134.

Its an aftermarket mpem. Top right is a "parts" where you can get a visual on your re/mdl.

After the test of the MPEM the tan/black wire to the black ring wire has no continuity. Does any one now what this wire goes to?
