Hello all,

I am interested in purchasing my first wave runner. I was offered what I believe to be two 1995 sea doo xp 800 limited they are supposed to have seats for three and a nice trailer for $700, but both machines need motor work. Now I have with help replaced 3 motors in my ski doo 670 and so I am some what familiar with my way around rotax. Does anyone have any ideas what I should look for on these machines and how i would best repair these if they needed whole new motors or if this is even worth it? I live in south east alaska, but i don't know if that means anything for the machines.

Thanks,
Jayvin

ummm

the XP model only ever sat 2 people... for any year.

if the trailer is in good shape you got a decent deal.

How warm does it get in south east alaska?!

Unless they are totally rotten, I would be all over that for $700. Even if you don't want to rebuild... there is potentially $4000 worth of ebay parts.

Yeah, I thought worse case scenario I could part them.

I haven't had a chance to see them in person, but the seller said the machines seat three and that the models are "limited" and the only limited I know of was the XP 800. The machines are dark red. I will post up when I have more info.

Southeast temperatures range from 80 degrees in summer to about 10 in winter. We have a lot of rain and snow because we are in a temperate rain forest.

Any ideas on what I should do about getting some motors?

If it is red from the factory... they aren't XP's. They are generally yellow and white. There were a few newer models that were silver.

As above... probably a GTX, and that would make it a 3 seater.

Regardless... for the $$$ grab them.

If the engines are shot, you can get complete rebuilt engine replacements with 2 year warranty for about 1200 each. If they just need new top ends, then it would be 500 or so each.

But how bad of shape are they in? If the engines need replaced AND so do the carbs, the electrical system, the pumps... then it would be expensive to bring them back to life.

Post some more details about the condition when you find out to see about bringing them back to life, but damn for 700 with a nice trailer... that's a steal

I think the models looked like this.

It is killing me waiting for this guy to get back in town so I can check this out. He is at work right now for Alaska Marine Lines and he is traveling for the next week. I will report back with info and pictures when I see him.

On a side note, my snowmachine (snowmobile in the lower 48) was stolen today. I let a buddy borrow it because my sled is in a different town 1000 miles away and it was left outside overnight at his shop in a warehouse district and gone the next day :banghead:

Two 98 GTX limited's with the 951 engines and double trailer for 700 dollars? And the guy said they were 95 xp800 3-seaters?

That sounds like a scam or something.... doesn't make sense

I would be cautious... but i would definitely check it out!

No scam. I have known him for a year and he actually brought in a picture to show me all his toys in a line and I asked about the seadoos and he asked if I was interested in them because I know about motors? I asked what's wrong with them. He said they need motors and he didn't have the time or desire to fix them because he is focused on his house. I am going to swing by and see if I can snap some pictures while I am waiting for him to come back :toetap05:

OK, so how is it that he told you that they were 95 XP's when they are 98 GTX's? There is a huge difference.
