This probably has something to do with it..... part of my neoprene seal was in my prop

How in the hell...

that's not where that goes....

ski looks good, neighbor had one just like it when i was growing up.

thankya....any idea of how it could have came off so easily? it was brand new

May have slide down as you were installing the pump. I had one not seat right before...didn't come off like yours but sucked air. BTW nice job on the ski. I enjoyed reading this thread. I am just starting on my 95 SPX restore.

and DAGRE147 , I couldn't help but notice, your flush T coming off your head doesn't have another hose connected into it, and its on the opposite inlet as mine. although they are different years, I thought they'd at least be similar in functionality. is the setup correct on yours? or did the previous owner just hack and spaghetti that ski? just curious

Just looked at my 95 SPX. Mine is the same way as this one.

Yea I think that the head may be different, as far as where the cooling ports/hoses are.. I think the 95 SPX isn't an X4 hull either. I think it started in 95 on the xp and 96 on the SPX (I think I recall a current thread where someone thought the 95spx was an x4 but someone said its not.. May have been 94 though) and maybe that plays a part in the setup?

Lol. That was my thread I started. I got the 95. Same as this one.. I just assumed these body styles were x4's but then everyone educated me on the differences. Doesn't really matter to me. I just have that disease that most of us have.....loves buying older seadoos To tinker with. I just hate parting with them lol.

Hahaha yea nice.. Makes no difference to me either.. When you say trim tabs I'm not sure what you're referring to. I know mine has sponsons on them but they aren't adjustable. Is that what you're referring to as trim tabs? I also have power trim..when I hear trim tabs, I think of the two plates on the back side of boats that have hydraulic arms attached to them

When seadoo says adjustable, it really means interchangable.

Also 96spxpos you have a 96 with a 720, he has a 95 657x motor, difference of 5hp

Extended ride plates are aftermarket and pumps all interchange with 657,717,787 on all models, they all can be used with each other, some have aluminum housings some brass some plastic. I prefer the brass pumps in my seadoos.

Oh I see! I always just thought there was a ride plate under it. So are those trim tabs adjustable?

No they do not adjust, you can buy different tabs that stick out farther and on different angles. They help keep you hooked up by not allowing the ski to bounce as much, they keep you from jumping. Racers use them

Gotcha. I bet those are the original tabs on mine and are going to be HELL to remove if the need ever arises

I have a questions ?.....If I wanted to jump waves would the AF trim tabs hold me back or not really? or say if i go WOT from stop does it help with the bouncing and keep me hooked up?

Stock tabs are great for wave jumping and top speeds but the X4 is awful bouncy that way. The extended tabs will help the porpoising but will also keep the nose down when diving into waves. like 1of said you can probably cut an extended pair down and find a happy middle ground.

Dagre I would just seal the pump with 100% silicone next time. It's a legit way to do it and it will be sealed. Your gonna need a wear ring if you have replaced it though. Happy to help in person of course.

Take a fresh look. Many times they will look OK but be dry and they blow out in chunks when you wet test it. I just quit trusting used ones.

A little off topic, but I love the feeling you get when something is not working at all and has you stumped for days and you finally figure it out! Damn 4wheeler....almost had me... NOT TODAY!!!

Hah too funny! I just bought a new Brute Force on Thursday. So in this whole process I wanted to sell my other Kawi atv, never have problems with it. Guy comes and test drives it, runs fine. He's coming to pick it up tomorrow so I pull it into the garage to take some of the stuff off of it (plow, box, stereo, etc) anyways want to make sure its running good as I haven't used it really since Labor Day, and on test ride my check belt light comes on and bike now feels like it's in limp mode. Only my luck. Hope I get it fixed before he gets to pick it up tomorrow

Hahaha mine is a kawai prairie I was getting ready to sell also. Worst feeling ever when you put her away running, come back and nada. I got this one from a guy who thought the crank was bad bc of an awful noise when he tried to crank it. It was just a chewed up belt hehehe but I didn't tell him that....

Gotta get this spx out the door so I can start my new project. Finally took the jet pump off again, came off way to easy. As predicted, the neoprene seal was shredded. also one of the water outlet fittings were broken. Check out the wear ring
