Hey guys. My speedster is giving me a bit of a hard time restarting when it is warm. If I bring the throttles to about half it fires right up. I have the low speed screw set at 1 turn which is the leanest the manual calls for. Runs pretty good. It is still oil injected. Any ideas? Thx.

Sorry, but i forgot to ask about my cavatation issue too. My port engine is reving up faster and higher then the starboard. I recently had the pump apart and changed my bearing carrier seals, impeller shaft and seal, and replaced the neoprene seal but when I had the pump off I checked my wear ring clearences and it measured at .011 which the manual said was ok so I put it back togather and it's doing the exact se thing! Help

This should be 2 posts since it's 2 unrelated questions.

BUT....

The hard starting is caused by a light flooding situation. Either your needle and seat are leaking, or the check valve on the high jet is leaking.

If you have recently "Rebuilt" the carbs, and you used aftermarket diaphragms, they are known to cause hard starting issues.

If your wear ring and impeller are good, then you have an air leak. I would probably check the carbon seal.

Sorry, i agree it should have been 2 posts. My boat doesn't have a carbon seal, it has a seal pack which I replaced. What should a wear ring look like? Mine had lots of scraps and scratched in it but since it specd out ok I figured it was fine.

Just rebuilt my carbs with the harder diaphragms and found it harder to start. Dropped in a set of NGK BR9EIX plugs and starts easy cold or hot now. I run these plugs in my Arctic Cat M6 and even at -35C she starts right up first pull.

The resistance on these solid core Extreme plugs is 4000k.

Hope this helps.

Cheers Don.
