If anyone saw my New Owner From Florida Post you will already know i just purchased 2 - 95 GTX's. One has a seized motor and the other is running.
I just purchased a low hour running motor and i have a few questions i am hoping to get some help with. I don't know much about the history other than they were mostly fresh water skis and have not been used much in the past year or so.

1. I know i will need to get the carburetor gaskets but what else will i need to change out the motor?

2. While changing the motor is there anything else i should change or instect while i am in there?

3. What type of maintenance should i do to both of these to get them ready to ride in the spring? I know i will get new plugs but is there anything else i should do just to make sure they are in top shape, ready to ride this spring?

Opinions...

Well, being you just got them, there are several things you'll be looking to check. Looking at the pump, you'll need to break it loose and check the oil and impeller. Look for signs of water. If you see any, then your seal has to be replaced. There is a slim chance, it could be your nose cone "0" ring.

Replacing the motor? This ski has the 657X. Make sure the engine you are getting is not the standard 657.

You can get gasket kits for replacing the engine. Before removing the engine, you'll want to mark and locate the orientation of the engine so you can go back with another. This may keep you from an engine alingment tool. Make sure you know where all your shims are before they fall into the hull when you pull the enigne out.
