Bought a 94 xp dirt cheap and am trying to get it going. In the process of rebuilding carbs, mine has the MAG carb toward the front and the PTO toward the rear. The idle speed screw and throttle linkage is on the rear carb, (PTO) but the manual says it is on the MAG carb and gives adjustments for the MAG side. Was there a few of these that were different? Also the the manual shows the xp dual carbs as having 2 studs per carb to mount the air cleaner and are totally different than the carbs I have. Mine are the 3 stud type for the air cleaner. I also had to remove the rotary valve/oil pump housing (4bolts) from the block to access the carbs. Is there some type of timing issue or can I just replace the oring and reinstall as long as I don't bump the engine over or spin the gear in the housing I removed? Last the local shop here has the carb kits for around $60 each and o ring for $11. A little high?

Well....... sounds like someone swapped the carbs. The 94 XP had a goofy "In-line" carb set up. Because you have a 3 bolt air filter... it sounds like someone put on an earlier set of carbs. If they have a square pump, and regulator... then they are sill SBN carbs.

Since you have the manifold off... I would verify the timing before reinstalling it.

Your local shop is high... but if they have them in stock... you may as well support the local guy. (Do not buy a kit that is not OEM Mikuni)
