94 SP will only start if spray ether

Hi my 94 SP wAs acting like it's half throttle no acceleration, came to find out oil pump wasn't hooked up an as I was hooking it up it broke a little piece , well bought a new one put it on an now it will turn over an with ether will start but shuts off immediately . Any suggestions?! Thanks!!

Does it have grey Tempo fuel lines? If so, replace them, go thru the fuel delivery system til its clean & flows easily.Rebuild your carb & tune it.

Yes it has grey fuel lines, sorry I am new to this where can I get some clear fuel lines?

Clear won't be legal. Just get some black rubber 1/4" hose from the autoparts store, and replace all the gray fuel lines. THEN... clean out the carbs, fuel select valve, and filter.

FYI... the auto fuel hose isn't USCG approved... but I've never had a problem with it. Depending where you live... the CG may not let you ride with clear hose.

Hi guys,
I read this thread and thought some one would jump on this. My mechanic said NEVER to use Ether to start the engine as it has no oil and may cause scoring. It this true? If so what other damage can it do?
