Hey guys, first off I'm new here, virgin post on this forum! But anyhow, ive done some research on this and called around but anyhow ill get to the point, ive got a 94 Sp ive had it a year or so, and I wanted to change out the pump fluid before I put it in the water this spring, and living in Michigan its starting to get a little warmer finally, so I started taking the bolts out and one was pretty much broken before i even touched it and the other 2 snapped with hardly any pressure, so I had purchased a used pump off ebay with a brand new SBT wear ring installed in it, so I started installing it and the impeller will hardly even fit in the wear ring, i had to use a rubber mallet to get it to fit. Also I noticed my ski has a solas 14-19 impeller on it, so I figured it was nice and tight so i tried to put it together but i couldn't even spin it with all my might so i took it back out lubed it up and reinstalled it, still same thing, I even tried rachet strapping a board to it to spin it, it does spin that way but you need about 2 foot of leverage for it to work. So I guess I'm here for some knowledge, ive been seeing that the SBT wear ring is 139.5MM and the prop is 140MM and from what ive been told is Solas tightened up there tolerances to help with performance so its slightly larger. Should I take the new wear ring back out and replace it with a seadoo wear ring or what? btw after 3 hours of working the impeller into it, i still cannot get the motor to turn over at all so this is obviously not working.

Yes, put an OEM wear ring in it. In my experience, the aftermarket ones are inconsistent. Make sure you didn't pinch the thrust bearing.

As Chester said the thrust washer is easy to pinch and once you do that it usually needs to be replaced. And also as you found out not much from SBT is worth anything.
Any impeller even with a new wear ring should spin by hand. It is ok for it to make a little contact in spots but if you can't turn it 360 degrees by hand something is wrong.

I'm with the others,,, Check the pinch washer and use an OEM ring. They are simply the best to use.

I have seen some impellers that were snug but turnable with some force. Use dish soap and lube it up well. While out of the water, use the starter to crank the engine and it will help to "wear" the wear ring a bit.

Even if I put it in with out the prop shaft in it it's still extremely tight, like to where I have to use a rubber mallet to get it to go in or out, so I know it's not the thrust washer. But I just was trying to find out if sbt is just junk or what but I think I found my answers lol

as aftermarket goes, they are generally one of the better suppliers. That said, there are a few parts that our Sea Doos like to be OEM. Starters, starter solenoids, carb rebuild kits and wear rings..

Well I installed a factory wear ring in it today and it slid in and works perfectly, haven't taken it out on the lake since it was about 50 degrees today but the tolerances were very good, and I could spin it by hand! Thank you guys! Now I know who not to buy things from lol
