Well thanks to this forum I'm becoming a Seadoo addict! A few months back I traded an old glock pistol I had collecting dust in my safe for a 93 xp that had seen better days but was in need of some love. https://vimeo.com/116931272
I got this on trade knowing it needed engine work that said I'm bored out of my mind in the winter and wanted hours of garage time to fill! Compression was terrible about 130 110 so I got started tearing into it

Well top end is shot and I found the gremlin looks like broken oil lines to the rv cover that explains a lot! Bottom end will get a new crank I found shrapnel mixed in with the oil and the bearings sounded horrible .

Next I thought I would give the bilge a good cleaning

And on to removing all the decals, what a pita took me about 4 hours with a heat gun and some serious patients!

Wanted to give it a good buff and polish job with my Christmas present a new duel tools polisher works pretty good.

After a full day of polishing!

I thought I would give the carbs a full rebuild and cleaning so I bought an ultrasonic cleaner that will also work well on cleaning my guns plus I just wanted an excuse to go to cabelas!
173.jpg

Cleaner worked great my carbs were looking ruff!

Pop off pressure was dead on and I found a neat tool my buddy let me borrow for pressure testing its called a kuhlman gauge he works for a gas company they use them to check gas lines anyway used it to test the pump pressure

Big thanks to minnetonka4me for all the parts I needed! That nasty pink grab rail got tossed and replaced with a nice used black one.
178.jpg

I also painted the vents and hood black I ended up going with a single gauge hood I really like the look so if anyone needs a realy nice 3 gauge green hood let me know.

If you find you need anything for them I have 2 93xps at the shop that are going to be parts machines and have not been touched yet. Parts would be real cheap and if your close than you could just pick them up.

Nice work by the way. The seat turned out nice.

I would suggest you ask that the seadoo logo on the bottom looked like the stock one though with the seadog font and the circle in the middle, I did not like the sea-doo and font he used on the bottom. He will change stuff out though.

He does have alot of choices.

He is currently making replicas of the 96xp graphics for us. We sent in tracings of the originals off of a mint xp we came across. They should be done soon.

Cool thanks for the heads up I will deff have him do that with the font.

That's awesome you can keep those 96xp graphics alive and in future production, from all my searches there about they only place that does oem replicas.

I'm thinking next winter I will be doing a yellow 95xp800 my buddy's dad has one that is having issues and he doesn't want to put any more $ into it so I might buy it, anyway I know it needs decals there pretty ruff so at least I have options..

This 93 resto is like practice or a prerequisite to doing an 800xp hopefully I have it all down by then lol! Besides the speedster this is realy the first ski I have worked on, I parted a few out to fund this and future projects but technically this will be my first rideable ski. Hope to start a little collection should be fun!

Any opinions on this brp emblem I bought it on eBay thinking it was the same size as stock but it's actually quite larger looks a little awkward must be for the newer models.

It looks great. Your little assistant will love ripping around the lake with you on it. My 4 year old assistant just asked me this morning when we can take the yellow seadoo to the lake.

Yep, they are very fun at this age and smarter than you think. Out of the blue on the way to school he asked, "Dad... where is the engine for the yellow seadoo". I replied, "In the attic, still have not finished it". His response, "You need to get that done, I really like the yellow one!".

LOL! That's great at least you know he has good taste in skis! My son is already claiming my 93 as his own.

This weekend I plan on putting some black sponsons to replace the worn out green ones. Hopefully putting the new ones on will go easy taking them off was a pita!

I will post some pics when I'm finished, I still have a lot to accomplish I'm currently replacing fuel lines, fuel bowl filter, and selector valve. I'm thinking I will just send the top end out to full boar and rebuild the motor myself with a new crank, seals and gaskets I had a blast rebuilding one of my speedster motors and it turned out to be a great runner. So hopefully next week I can order some graphics and have some more pics!
