1997 gtx 787, balance shaft bearing failed this fall, damaging the crankcase halves. Purchased excellent case with balance shaft, intending to salvage the crank and top end which were rebuilt (Pistons and cylinders fine, 150 comp) and re-assemble with new crankcase/balance shaft/bearings/seals.

Question 1: stator was fine but should I replace at this teardown?
Question 2: the ignition housing shows damage from the bearing disintegration, can I clean up and re-use, or replace? Other tips?? Thanks.

MAG housing should be fine after cleaning it up. Stator looks ok but definitely get a new plastic oil pump drive.
