That was my top speed run yesterday on flat water. I weigh about 245,and tge vts trim was pointing practically all the way up. I have a nujet impeller, don't know what pitch though. I sent the an email with the part nunber but they had no idea what it was. Other than that, it has 1.5mm oversized pro x pistons. This was with the info gauge. Tomorrow I'll try with a gps. What do you guys think? I was at wot and it wouldn't go a hair over 6500

I think you should be doing about 10 mph more than you are. The GPS is going to be slower probably 45-46mph. I'm guessing the impeller is what is keeping the rpm's down. Do you have a stock impeller you could swap out?

do you know what max rpm your ski should be getting?

i had a 97 gsx carbed that could do 6900 and go mid 50's on gps

so I think you'll find those extra mph where you find the extra rpm

The Rev limiter is set to 7100 rpms +/- 50. So you are coming up short, like the guys said get the pitch of that impeller figured out first.

Other items that will contribute
How healthy is your motor? It might be getting a bit tired, take a compression reading to be sure it is not that. Low compression will also keep you from hitting max rpm's.

Rave valves might be sticking and not opening all the way. They might need a cleaning, also check the pressure hoses to the valves, make sure there are no leaks or loose hoses.

There are a few things.....

1) The stock speed'o SUCKS !!! They are never right. So, the only way to really know your speed is with a GPS. One run, up river, and one pass down... then take the average. (FYI, my XP speedo reads about 10 mph low on the top)

2) You are a little on the heavy side, so that will drag your speed down a little. (3~4 mph)

3) The nujet impellers aren't very good, and we see mixed reports. So, if you find that your speed isn't into the mid 50's... that's the first place I would look.

4) With the nozzle up... you are loosing thrust. Both because of redirecting, and because it's not "In-Line" with the hull. AND... because of that.............

5) Your RPM's are low. If your RPM's don't come up to 7000 with the nozzle flat... then make sure your ignition timing is right... your flame arestor is clean... your throttle body is opening all the way..... and that your water regulator is set properly. If all that checks... I would go back to the impeller, and blame it.

I have the impeller if you end up needing it, but Tony's post is spot on.

As far as the speedo, I find that although inaccurate, at high speed they are fairly consistent.
