4 stroke vs 2 stroke

Thanks for the support. As you can see I have 3 different ski's. I am strictly a recreational skier, but I think my favorite ride is the 96GTI, I affectionately call it the Buick. I enjoy riding with others exploring the lake, cruising and not necessarily running at full speed all day. I also enjoy running at higher speeds more maneuverability, jumping wake, and getting wet that's why I have the 96XP, there is no way I can ride this ski all day. I just got the 96GSX for my wife and it's somewhere in the middle.

I guess I'm comparing the 96GTI to an entry level 4-tek. If I could only have one ski it would be the 96GTI, in my opinion powered by the most reliable engine that SeaDoo ever put in a ski. Also on the lake we usually use you don't see a lot of high powered ski's so there is no keeping up with the Jones.

I just wanted to let y'all know where I'm coming from.

Lou

P.S. I love the smell of 2-stroke in the morning. :lols:

I hear ya Lou, I love my old 2 strokes. Much easier to work on, and who doesn't like the smell of 2 stroke in the mornin? ;)

Anyway, the 96 gti is a great machine, I remember the one my dad bought when I was a kid. The 720 had a way cool sound and was a great cruiser. My current 96 xp is a great little wave jumper, and I agree also for the gsx, great combination of the two qualities.

I must say my knowledge of the 4 tecs are slim to none since I have only rode a gtx 155 once. But based on my knowledge of my banshee vs my yfz450, I prefer working on the banshee. ;)

Great discussion here, I enjoyed reading it.

Why do think the only comparison can be made between the high performance machines, red2blue? What if you were shopping for a Fiesta and a Chevette? Then who cares about how a Mustang compares to a Vette.

So, by your logic, the Ford F150 truck is a pile of crap because the Vette will smoke it. That is not exactly fair, nor relevant to the F150, is it?

The only problem I had with Lou's opinion is when he first stated it, it was too general and made it sound like all Kawis were better than all Seadoos. But now that we got some specifics, he validated his opinion, and Lou thinks that if you are looking for a base model 2004-2005 4-stroke, then you should give Kawasaki a chance because he enjoyed the ride more than the seadoo.

if we are making analogies, maybe better to compare a mustang to a camaro? i never drove a stock mustang that could touch a vette. just sayin...

I don't like Yamaha's for the same reasons that I don't care for the 4-tek SeaDoo's, too big too boat like.

Lou

Not all 4tecs are huge or ride boat like - Only the huge new S3 hull boats and even then they can carve aggressively. I have no pony in this race as I love both my 2 stroke and 4 stroke. As redman said, I use them for different things. My 08 rides a little drier and honestly the with all the power you can't really feel the weight.
