4 stroke oil added by accident!

we have put in 4 stroke not 2 stroke oil into our 2002 seadoo gtx di, would that be a good reason why it will not run properly? what is the big difference in the two? i have taken out the oil container and emptied it and will add the proper oil but will this fix my problem? Also was added to my 2000 seadoo gtx millenium edition, but it is still running fine! should i empty it aswell and add proper oil, will this damage the motor? thanks

It is not recommended to even mix 2 stroke oil. You stand the chance that the two different oils will gel, and the engine will not get proper lubrication. It is recommended to completely drain the lubrication system. This is a lot of work, and the oil pump is extremely hard to get to.

I may get some argument here by this is what I would do.

I would remove the lower hose below the oil filter, and pinch the hose so no air gets into the line. Drain the tank through the filter, flush out the tank, let the tank dry, replace the filter, and let a half quart of so of fresh 2 stroke oil run through. Refil the tank, replace the lower hose to the filter.

Run 3-5 gals. of premix, to ensure the motor gets proper lubrication, this should clear out the contaminated oil below the oil tank. You're good to go.

Wait to see if you get other replies before doing this.

I would mix the two in a jar and watch it for a day or two. If nothing happens, just top it off with the proper oil.
I think the four-stroke oil will increase the chance of plug fouling.
 
i have already drained the oil tank to the filter, took the injectors off and cleaned them too, i was hopeing to get away with changing the plugs and oil and see if that gets it running again! my other seadoo the 2000 has been running on the 4 stroke for awhile now but by the sounds of it i had better clean it out too before any damage occurs, thanks for the help ill keep checking in to see if there is anymore advice! ill post what my outcome is later today or tomorrow with the 2002 after changing everything to see if it will at least stay running! thanks again!
 
WELL, that didnt work!! well at least i got all the old oil out but the, DI will start sometimes and not run long then just shut off! the longer the key is out the easier it is to start again but will not stay running! any ideas? i heard something about a rectifier maybe? is this something i could look into? thanks again
