hey guys was wondering about this ruff idle at start up , me and about 25 other people ive found are having this problem, first time was about hr 2 of my break in. then it started again after 10 service, which was new oil and plug change. is this normal ? does it go away, and what is going on in the engine for this to be happening?

Having this problem and so are a bunch of new ski owners have talked to 7 people today who are having there GTI new Skis doing this. Its not the IDF because GTI doesnt have this .

In my experience, rough idle is usually caused by bad spark plugs.

But, they should not fail with so little hours and on so many machines.

Best to report it to the dealer and let them handle it.

Is this only when you first start it? Does it smooth out after you ride it? Just curious. I have a brand new 130 GTI SE with about 30 minutes on it so far. I agree about talking to the dealer. Post back what you find.

Its only on the start up, sometimes if i stop to eat an it sits a hr or so it will do it on the crank up, have to shut off engine let it sit crank it back up if still there shut it off again and so on till it stops, and when i mean ruff the whole machine shakes.

Have you been to a dealer about this? I would have my nice new $11500 machine there real quickly if that was happening.

I called they asked me if i thought it would do it if i brought it to them, i told them i didnt know , that it has never done it when i cranked it to wash it out after rides, and some day i wait till next morning to flush it. They said they havent heard anything like this happening and to make a video and bring it to them.

Ok , while i got u on here, whats ur thoughts on a stainless steel wear ring, i see where SD sells one for like $350, really wish they came with one, wondering do u think SD dont come with one because of something in the drive is not strong enough for one or is it just a money thing?

These 4 stroke skis are new to me, but my experience with 2 stokes, I like the Delrin rings. WHEN you do suck up something like a stick, or rock, you want something that will give some. I would much rather destroy a wear ring than a impeller, or shaft. If I was racing, then maybe I would want something different, but for a rec ski, I would stay stock or plastic.

My dodge van in cold startups is rough, then in 30 or so seconds it clears up,,many have the same issues,,,does not do it in warm weather at all,,,so I am surmising that this is a computer fuel delivery issue,,,,

Its loud ruff vibrating , almost like a choke is on , or something to that effect, lots of people talkin about it happening with there new seadoos.

Only once did i let it keep going to see what would happen, and i heard like a click and then it was running fine, all other times i would shut it off and restart it several times to it stopped

Well my 130 SE with 1/2 hour on it did this to me this weekend. It was purring just fine, and I accidently hit the cruise control button. (which is a low speed button when going really slow). Anyway I set the thing to 4 which was a little slower wake speed, and suddenly the motor started idling rough. The tack was still at 1800, but it was shaking pretty badly. So i shut it down and restarted it. The rough idle continued. So I hit the gas some and it pulled out fine. I brought it back to idle and it was fine. It did it once again, but without any rhyme or reason. Today I couldn't get it to do it at all. Where did you hear about others with this issue?

BTW, my 170 SE has not done this. Hopefully it wont! But both skis have less than two hours on each of them.

On a few Facebook pages, of local jetski riders in Louisiana, Miss, and Alabama, , it seems to be happening to a lot of the New Skis but nobody at Seadoo or dealers no anything about it , im told by my dealer, which im thinking is a crock of shit.

Most people i have talked to about this all say it happened once when they were doing there10 hr break in an then it starts happening a lot after that !!! We need answers !!!

My issue is the skis are at a lake 1:45 away. And I can't get up until the weekends and the dealer is a half hour ride on the lake to get there. So taking care of this will be a pain. I will keep riding them and see if it continues to happen. I may also check in with the dealer by phone. And of course watching the forum to see if anyone finds the bug.

Yea thats what my dealer did he typed in Ruff idle on new gti, and a few other things to see if anyone was posting anything about this an he found nothing, so he asked me if i were to bring it to him would it do it, i told him i didnt know it had never done it when i hooked it up to water for the wash down after riding. So he said make him a video of it and bring it too him.

Have u tried joining a few jetski riding groups on facebook in ur area, thats where i found the first 15 people all having this same problem.

I am a forum guy, and kind of hate Facebook. It is odd that nothing is showing up on any other threads besides this one.

I understand, when it first started with me i came and veiwed a few forums but saw nothing on it so i asked about it on one of the facebook clubs and my inbox blew up with in mins about it, the best answer i got from several people was to sink it and buy a Yamaha. So i posted on several thers from differnt states and same thing happened , inbox blew up. So there is really something going on here, with no real answers from anyone. Its almost like everyone has taken the issue up with there dealers and gotton no real answers except there not seeing the issue on forums !!!
