Two weeks ago we were riding and got the tow line caught in the engine. We flipped it in the water and got the line untangled. Although during this process the engine compartment filled about 45-50% with water. We towed it back to the loading dock and drained it, checked the oil to make sure no water had gotten in, took it back out and rode it for about 2 hours. Now we have come back this week and it will not even turn over. The battery is charged, even tried jumping it, the engine will not turn over. It clicks a couple times and that is it. I feel it may be water locked. It says CHECK ENGINE on the gauge and nothing else. No p-codes or anything. Any ideas on what it could be or am I screwed until I can get it to a mechanic. :-( The water that got into the compartment is Lake water, no salt.

I do not think it is water locked because we rode it for another couple hours. :-\

Thank you so much for your help, as this is the only service that is available until tomorrow.

When you say you jumped it what do you mean? You aren't really supposed to "jump" them because the ECU doesn't like that very much and can cause some costly damage.

typically itll take a couple days before damaged electronic components will peak its way though.. i bet all that water inside your hull may have fried a connection... or worse......

To confirm a water lock concern, simply pull the plugs and see if it cranks.

Based on the fact that you had it running after you rolled it over, I am betting an electrical issue.
