Good Evening, I recently purchase a 2011 RXT 260 and am having some issues with it. Not exactly sure what parts are on it but it has been modified.

Once it is started it runs perfect, once it hits around 7,500 rpms the IBR light comes on in the dash/cluster and goes into limp mode. Then eventually the motor light on the dash/cluster will turn on. The IBR is still working and I have the brake and reverse. If I pull the key out then start it back up everything goes away from the dash and it will do the same thing like clockwork. I took it to a shop to see if there were any locked codes on it and they cleared them all. I then put it back in the water and it continues to do the same thing.

  • The ECU has been flashed with a tune previously and then it was flashed back to stock.
  • The engine that was originally in it was built for racing and it was replace with a new 2015 motor. Is the ECU, motor and IBR all possibly being different years be causing an issue?
  • Also wondering what the rpm limiter would be set at on a stock machine. Could the rpms at 7,500 be over the stock limit causing it to do this. When having it at 7,500 rpm it feels like I have another 1/3 of throttle left to go until it hits the grip. Would a throttle position sensor cause this?
  • I also have a 2012 RXP 260 with a stage 1 RIVA package would it be a good idea to switch IBRs to figure out if it is actually the IBR? I don't want to ruin my working machines parts.
  • I can ride it with no issues as long as I don't hit the 7,500 rpms.

Thanks for the help!

Stock rpm limiter is 8200, when it goes into limp mode, scroll through the menu to the fault codes. Once you shut it off, they will become inactive and not visible anymore. IBR between those years are generally interchangeable. Change your battery and check your voltage at high rpms. I suspect a voltage/connection/corrosion issue to the IBR.
