Hi, I just bought a 2008 rxpx 255 and it worked just fine the first time. Then the second time riding my top speed went from 70+ to 55, and my rpms dropped. I know it is at 92 hours so it could be the supercharger, but im not sure. Anything will help!

Thanks

I'm also very hesitant to drive it again, idk if the motor is going to blow or any other problems

Don't fire it up.

With motor off...pull intake hose off sc and try to spin the wheel with your finger tip.

What were your rpm's before and after?

This! But whatever you do, do NOT start the thing again till you check the supercharger. If you do and it is blown you can do more damage to the engine.

Yea you lost a supercharger from what it sounds like. How long did it run like this?

You can still rebuild blown sc right?

Three options. Remove and reinstall yourself.
1) Buy new ( The dealers does this instead of rebuild) $866 from Louis Sports.
2) Send out used SC to be rebuilt by independent shops $425 plus shipping.
3) take a crack at it, buy rebuild kit with tools $375. Will need bearing press. Make sure you buy a good kit.
The new one has all the latest coated washers and it is beefed up and comes new from the factory in Austria. 200 hour till next rebuild. I recommend this. Second choice, send it out.

Good Luck,

Doc

Yes you can with an upgraded kit. Last time my dealer did it from just over $500 parts and labor or if you're willing to remove the SC yourself you can save around $100 give or take. Your problem is that you also ran the motor after the sc blew. That usually causes whatever broke on the sc to go through the motor which will need to come out before it plugs up the oiling system causing you to lose oil pressure and fry some bearings. Labor gets pretty extensive there.

Although it very well could be a supercharger, pay attention to the hose from the charger to the throttle body for leaks or cracks. May be just a loose clamp.

Thanks ill see what I can do! And one more question, do the 2008 models have the ceramic washers still? I have heard they tend to break.

Thanks

In 08 the ceramic washers were SUPPOSE to be gone. But we have found that some snuck through. No 09's and newer that I have heard as of yet.

I asked the dealer specifically if it had them. He assured me I was good to go. About 27 hrs later he had to warranty a whole new SC and motor. That was the last time I took his word on anything that could go either way. Always check for yourself regardless of what you're told by the "experts".

If anyone else has a 2008 rxpx or rxtx, can I ask where the sc is? I think I found it towards the back but not positive?

Thanks

you may want to take the cover off the oil pump in the front of the motor
5 screws there is a plastic screen in there
and you can look for metal:(

It is bolted to the rear of the engine by the waterbox. Snail looking black thing with 2 hoses coming off of it. One going to the intercooler on the X model on another is the air intake. Hope this helps. If not google it and some pics will show up.

nice restraint red, but not sure I can do the same. if you don't know where the sc is, I suggest taking it to someone.
