I purchased a 2008 GTI last year off a guy who had the impeller changed out. He said when he bought it off the orginal owner he thought the guy did some mods to make it faster. When I bought it I could get it to 60-61 on the water. Over the winter I took the battery out and then changed from champion copper plugs to new NGKs. Nothing else. Today I take it out for the first time this summer I'm getting 53-54 mph and doesn't feel as strong top end it feels lazy but runs smoother. I gapped the plugs to spec. The gaps on the old ones looks slightly bigger. I'm wondering if this ski had a flash Ecu tune done and removing the battery reset it to factory? Any suggestions??

Both of my '08 GTI SE 130 run 53-55mph. If you find out how to get more mph I would be interested. I do know the 130 and 155 are the exact same except there's a 10* timing difference. Not sure if it requires a cam swap or ecu flash.

I just found a pair of garage kept 2008 130 GTI's with a trailer and bought them. One had 100 hrs the other 101 from a 70 yr old couple. After a short time 2-3 hours mine started missing just a bit. replaced spark plugs on both. Ruining like new. Since this is a base model no speedo. I took my Garmin Bicycle computer to clock speeds. With a little chop we both got a consistent 51.5 mph. It will likely be a little faster in smooth water. Very pleased with these machines.

I don't think disconnecting the battery will reset an ECU flash. When they are programmed the program is permanent unless you flash it again with different parameters. At least on all my other machines I have had programmed changing a battery never changed my programming
