I have a recurring issue when starting the jetski. When I press the start/stop button I get nothing, then I wait a bit and try again and it fires right up. It is an intermitant problem. Took it to the dealer, they said no error codes, replaced the starter relay, total of $300. Took it out today, it started right up, stopped for gas and when I pressed the button after refueling, nothing again. After about 10 minutes pressed the button and it fired right up. Very frustrating. Any thoughts on what would cause this. Hate to go right back to the dealer since they didn't fix it. Thanks

My 06 GTX does something similar - sometimes push the button and nothing. If i move the shifter lever to neutral then it will start, other time it starts in gear, no problem. Hope someone on here knows what causes this. Is this normal for these ski's???

I had the same problem with my RXT, but once the starter relay was replaced I havent had a problem. Are you sure that the relay was replaced? I know I dont trust my local dealership.

holy isht... relay for $300, thats a lil outrageous... just picked one up for $40. i know my ski is older...but still a starter relay is a starter relay...and i agree wit rFord... dont trust the dealership...have you checked your start/stop switch...and before you go to the dealer you can get one right up top under "parts" for $75!!!

I do think its the button. The dealer charged $150 to diagnose problem, $50 for relay, $100 labor to put it on. I hope it was actually replaced, but I don't know if I can tell by looking can I?

if they charged $150 to diagnose i would be my ace back up there with the quickness....thats a grip of change for there to still be the same problem... i dunno if you could tell by looking at it... i would ask them to see the parts invoice, and ask them if you could have the old one

Starter Switch

I don't know about a SeaDoo, but I had a similar problem with my motorcycle, I took the switch out and sprayed a little automotive contact cleaner inside the switch. It fixed the problem.

when i bought my ski's one switch was mashed in, from years of use...it would only hit and crank every few timeds i pushed it... bought a new one, now i can look at it wrong and the thing will fire first try without a doubt....
