2006 Seadoo RXP Starting Problem

The engine is closed loop. Coolant cools the motor and outside water cools the exhaust and intercooler. If the manifold was cracked water could enter but it is self draining so I dont see that happening. It is more common to find the intercooler cracked from water freezing during the winter. Pop the big hose from the intercooler to throttle body and see if water is in there.

From what I have read here on the forum, most of the exhaust manifold leak problems are due to corrosion from salt water and not properly flushing with fresh water after use and/or age. Like pwgsk said, they are supposed to be self draining but most of us still flush them with antifreeze for winter just to be on the safe side. If it was cracked and leaking it could let water pool in cylinders after it was shut off. While running I would think exhaust back pressure would keep any water from entering.

As for a leaky intercooler, that definitely could have burst due to improper winterization. They also go bad on their own sometimes. I noticed in your earlier post that you have some Riva mods, do you have OE intercooler or aftermarket? Either way, your issue may warrant a leak test just to rule things out...

Ok folks... just got the call from the Seadoo dealership - he says that the engine is in good shape and he was able to flush it out without any issues. He said that as soon as he hooked up water, the entire compartment was like a garden hose spewing into it. The tech says that in his 15 years of working on jetskis, he has never seen as large of a hole in an intercooler as mine. I called JetTekH2O and they are denying that the issue was from improper winterization and that the unit just failed.

The new intercooler is $799.99 but the Seadoo one is $459.95

The tech mentioned purchasing the Seadoo intercooler (rated for the new 260HP RXP's) because it is compatible with my Stage 2 Riva kit in the 2006 RXP (215HP). It will save me a lot of money doing it this way as long as what he says is true... thoughts?
