Hi all,
I have a 2007 RXT. Having issues with the start button. The start button seems dead, nothing. But If I push it half a dozen times, or sometimes hold it down for a while, it suddenly starts.

Reading other posts it sounds like it could be a weak battery, a failing starter solenoid or a bad button. Any advice how to narrow it down?

Is this a common issue?
Thanks in advance

You can rule out the selenoid by testing for battery voltage at the selenoid,,,yellow red wire,,,you can jump the selenoid to the starter,,

When you test for battery voltage at the solenoid, you also want to check the two wires on the connector which pulls in the solenoid. Push the start button and test for voltage at the two contacts in the connector.

My issue seems to be with the button or the contact beneath it. A penny under the button or switch (orange harness end) helps but not consistant. Leaving the button off and activating the soft orange end works good. The button is new. Would prefer not to leave harness exposed. Any thoughts out there?

When I check voltage at the solenoid, what is expected? Should there be 12v at all times, or only with key fob on, or only when start button is pressed.

Update...yesterday my kids started complaining the dess key became difficult. Like a bad connection you had to keep jiggling it until you suddenly get your beeps.

Today I returned to site with my voltmeter to check the solenoid, and the dess key is not working at all anymore.

Are these issues related? Might be getting over my head here.

At the selenoid,,,with the red power connector,,,(for charging the battery),,you should see the battery voltage.

Final update. I ended up at the dealership. They confirmed it was the starter solenoid failing intermittent then total. Replaced and back in the water running fine.

Thanks for all the advice
