Is there an advantage between rebuilding an 8y.o. wheel and installing a new one? Assuming the older wheel never touched down...or is cover in salt corrosion...the only difference will be the money.

Don't forget the prop removal tool when you get that air intake. Depending on what kinda r's you're turning now...and what you'll be turning afterward...you'll want to tweek that prop accordingly so that you take advantage of the extra gains.

Example...if you're on the limiter now...adding a better air intake will net you nothing because the limiter is gonna keep you down. When that is the case...you tweek that prop a lil steeper....put more load on the motor, go a lil faster, all while staying under the rev limit.

If you're not on the limiter now (are you in cold weather?) a better air intake will net you more r's in the heat allowing the motor to perform better...allowing you more speed than you would be getting w/o.

Capiche?

Which NEW sc kit would you recommend, how do I know if I am on a limiter now, and do you recommend a particular intake system (other than the frizzle) or is that the best one?

This site advocates...

There is a new sc rebuild service here as well. I personally don't know much about it. Some of the others will undoubtedly sound off.

As for the air intake....Fizzle did all the leg work on his...you could make it for less using similar components....but you then get to do all the grunt work. Basically all you do is mimic the oem layout but using Kana-flex hose...620W I believe..can't remember. Anyway...7' of kana-flex 620...a reducing bend and a coupla couplers...put a screen on the end...some clamps...all there is to it.

Don't fall for the Riva 3" air intake...a diy 4" for outperforms it for way less money.

edit...

here's more info on this site's rebuild service..

Instead of the digital speedo...read the tach The limiter for an '06...I believe is 8200...maybe 8250. On an '05 the hard limiter is 8150 with a soft limit at 8100.

so....once the motor is warmed up...in deep water...when you punch it to the stops...what kinda r's are you seeing? When you are wot with an almost empty tank...what kinda r's are you seeing especially on glass like surfaces.

It sounds like you have decided to do the SC... But back a few questions you asked again if you should or not.

Bottom line is, you are WAY over due and thus far been lucky. I can't tell you the HUNDREDS that have had their engine damaged and or destroyed due the ceramic washers entering the engine. I would do the ful rebuild and include the updated shaft. This will give you potentially a few years of high quality use.

I know you want to spend money on things where you can gain performance. But bottom line is, you will spend thousands if you don't take care of the SC.

Thank you both for all of the good info...I am torn between rebuilding my sc or getting a new one???

What are your concerns?
If yours is not slipping then I would think it is fully rebuildable with no concerns. Plus, it can be updated with all the upgraded parts. And, it would be much cheaper..

How long can I expect it will take to take it out, assuming I have the correct tools? And if I run out of time, how many hours of labor SHOULD a dealer charge me for the whole job?

It shouldn't take you an hr, the first time, to remove the sc. I can do it now in less than 20min.

How're you gonna run outa time?

I wouldn't pay a stealership for this service...so...can't help you on the last one.

This video is for the RXP, but the principles are the same for removing your supercharger. Not a difficult job by any means. If you have any questions about the rebuild service, let me know. Between going new and rebuilding, unless you are planning on going x charger (and you understand what comes with that), then just stay stock.
