When i push start button at first i thought Batt was down but button just seemed to be stuck or something and after a few seconds it fired right up but still seems to be "stuck" or something

It's happened to me. Comes and goes. Mostly from low battery and dirty battery connection. Sticking relay switch can cause this because the battery is low. Low battery voltage will damage the relay and starter.
Proform stress test on battery or take it to local auto parts store. I've posted how to in this forum. Use the search box.
Remember, the relay is a magnet that is only strong as the voltage put to it.

Sounds like the solinoid to me. Pretty common and cheap to fix. Minnetonka4Me probably has new ones in stock

By "Sticking", what do you mean.
Does it do anything when you press the start button, or nothing and then suddenly it cranks?

Does the starter engage or not until it "unsticks"?

Yes...happened to me...lil plastic cover got stiff with age...replaced it for like...I dunno...$6? prob solved. I'd already verified the battery and solenoid were good.

Generally a connection issue causes this. Could also be the solenoid as they "stick" when dirty. Jump the terminals of the solenoid and see if it cranks instantly. If so, test for voltage at the trigger wire at the solenoid. Specifically, see if you get volts instantly to the trigger wire when you press the start button. If so, then replace the solenoid assuming it cranks instantly when you jumped the solenoid terminals.

If there are delays when jumping terminals and testing the trigger wire, then remove all main battery wires (grounds as well), clean them, put dielectric grease on them, then reinstall them.
