2005 RXT Fuel Pump?????

Picking back up from last summer. Took ski out today and still running fine for about 15-20 minutes then dies and will immediately start back (even while still coming off plane). Any ideas? Coastie said might be Rectifier. Does this sound right? Hoping Coastie still around.

It is shuts off like the lanyard was pulled, then I doubt it is the rectifier. However, it is a simple test assuming you have an external rectifier. Simply unplug it. If the problem goes away, replace it. It will not charge when it is unplugged.

It sounds more like a loose connection. At the DESS or MPEM for example.

Coastiejoe, any chance it might be a bad start stop switch. The switch doesn't have much movement and it was hard to push when I first got jet ski. Maybe it is shorting out inside? That possible?

Possible, yes. But not probable. Generally speaking, when they fail they tend to fail "OPEN" which means even when pushed there would be no contact. Now,,, if the plug has a poor connection or a wired is frayed and bumps against metal, then yes,,

I would unplug and replug any connection you can get to simply to ensure a quality connection. I have seen fuses cause this. They are good but have a poor connection and basically open and close the circuit...

Update. I have tried unplugging and replugging all plugs that I could get my hands on. It is now at the dealer again. They have had it for 3 weeks and cannot figure out the problem. They called and said it was bad gas. My question was, "why would it only die after 20-30 minutes and only have a problem while running at cruise speed and more?" Not a bad gas problem. Figured that since it should run worse at idle with bad gas. I am literally helping them figure this out. Even called Bombardier and asked for their dealer help line. We will see where this goes. They are going to test my Rectifier to make sure that it is not that again. Any ideas guys? We are in our season now and dying to get the Ski out on the water.

I tried this and cannot find bad or loose connection. Not sure what to do. Brought it to the dealership and they can't figure it out either. Really starting to get bummed.

I had a Mercury outboard that would act very much the same way. Gave me fits. Turned out to be the ignition module (brain box). It would heat up and fail then run again within minutes. I know this is a different animal but transistor circuits are known for acting that way at times.

Thanks. Kind of been thinking that too. Maybe a coil getting hot and about to fail. Hope it's not the ecm or similar.

Okay. Got it back from dealer today and said I had trash in fuel and cleaned it out and put fresh gas in it. Ran like a champ for 2.5 hrs without dying at all. Even ran 65 with three of us on there. Might actually be fixed. Dealer did break my console lid, gauges don't work anymore, and rope is gone. Bill was $252 so all in all not too bad. All was still cheaper that I replaced fuel pump myself even with them having to let them finish the job for me With the trash. They wanted $700 for the pump and 2 hours labor. I came out way ahead. Fuel pump was breeze and they even checked my pressure while trouble shooting. I replaced pump for $60.
