How much of an issue are the flywheel bolts on a 2005 RXT. How many people have had issues running a stock (not modified) engine.

There has been people with issues and people without, Seadoo fixed this issue after a few years. If I was you I would change them when you get a chance because if they let go you are looking at $$$$$.

They are a known issue but are not on the high end as compared to others things such as Ceramic Washers in the Super Charger and the sodium filled valves (which I THINK started in 06).

Of the ones that I have read about, they don't normally create a lot of damage when they fail. As a general rule, the broken studs come out pretty easy as they do not bottom out when they are tightened down. So once the head break off, you would simply left hand drill them. Once a hole gets started you slow the drill down and push in hard. It grabs the stud and unthreads from the crank.

I'm hoping to get away with just the supercharger for now. I hope you're right about the valves. I thought I might have to worry about those too.

Nope,,, I thought I was wrong once I typed it out.. Here if from an earlier post of mine,,,

Ok,, here is what I found,,,

The exhaust valves on the 04-06 RXP/RXT engines have hollow, sodium filled stems just below the head of the valve. The problem is that the material they used for these valves is very brittle, and subject to a problem called corrosion microcracking.

In late 2006, they switched to solid stem valves made from a tougher, more corrosion resistant alloy.

There are numbers stamped on the valves, 72xx is the older valve and 75xx is the newer (good) valve.

failure rate is pretty low on the flywheel bolts, but they do fail. less than the valves but they don't fail that often either, especially if the ski is maintained properly and not run in saltwater. I normally don't recommend people change the flywheel bolts unless it has high hours or you are in the pto housing anyway, the kit is only $13. sc fail constantly, even before the 100 hours especially if they have some years on them.
