Hey Guys, I have a couple of concerns and I'm hoping for some help. I ran across what seems to be a good deal on an 05 RXT Supercharged 215 with 142 hours that the guy bought new. He seems very Honest or he could have made up a story but, it's been sitting in a storage unit since the summer and it's been quite Cold here for the past couple of months and he said he has never had it Winterized or done anything different this year than any other and has Never had a problem! Should I be concerned with the innercooler or the exhaust possibly froze up and if so, what should I look for? I'm going tomorrow morning to check it out and he has no problem starting it for me so, if there was a problem, would there be any obvious signs to look for and how long can you run one of these without water to give it a good going over? Thanks for any help....... :bigear:

Anything with an engine that will sit for extended time should be winterized… but if it’s kept in a warm garage… it may be OK.

Running a jet skin on the trailer really doesn’t tell you much, and knowing that he does minimal work to the ski… I would want to put it on the water to make sure it’s running properly. That is… unless you are getting it cheap enough, that you won’t get mad if you need to rebuild the supercharger, replace the intercooler, and rebuild the pump and drive line.

(just my 2 cents)

Hello All, I did Purchase this Beast knowing I was taking a Risk but, me & the Ol Lady took it out for the first time yesterday. I had to put a New Battery in it and I was still getiing the 4 beeps every 5 seconds or so. Anyways, got it out on the water and first off I couldn't Believe how quickly this thing accelerates! We took off and I opened er up and looked down at the Speedo & we were hitting 71mph and I couldn't believe it was pushing about 8 Grand on the RPM's. Engine Temperature was running in the high 80's, Every thing works so, I think I got lucky with this Purchase. Heres the only thing, we brought it in after about 2 hours of running it on the lake, loaded it up on the trailer, took the seat off to take a look at the engine compartment just to see if it took in any water and yep, unfortunately, there was ALOT of water in it so I loosened Both Drain Plugs and it must have drained for 5 minutes so, any idea's on how it took on so much water? Could the innercooler possibly have cracked in the Winter? The Engine Temp. was fine. I had both Drain Plugs secured Very Tight! I'm just learning how these 4-strokes work. Also, I have already Purchased a SC. Rebuild kit from SBT as I have already heard about the Ceramic Washers breaking down and I'm Planning to have the SC. rebuilt B4 they Break Down! The flooded engine compartment is my Problem for now and I couldn't tell any change in Performance on the way in so, I got Lucky again! Any Help, Ideas of what may be going on is very much appreciated! Thanks, Tim

Hi,

Yep... there could be a leak in the intercooler, or the exhaust. Unfortunately, you will need to go to the lake, and have a day of just checking. You can start with it on a hose, but you may not have enough pressure to find the leak.

The other places you can look at are the boot around the carbon seal (the driveshaft) or.... if one of your bailer tubes fell out... you can actually be pumping water into the ski. There is 2 of them, so one can be still doing it's job. (look inside of the pump. You should see them hanging down from the top)

... Engine Temperature was running in the high 80's,

Where are you getting engine temp from?

Just so you are not confused, the temps on the info gauge, L Temp and E Temp refer to Water temperature and Air temperature.

L Temp = Water temp (either from Lake temp or perhaps de l'eua, which is French for water)

E temp = Exterior temp

So if you were reading E Temp, you had a nice high 80's day :)

The engine would be running MUCH hotter than that.

LOL, Thanks for the Abreviations! "NOOB" Probably running more like in the 180's.... I just couldn't believe the thing was So Fast.......:hurray:
