Hi Everyone,

I have a 2004 Sportster LE DI 14.5ft boat with a 130 hp motor. Basically the issue at hand is that the boat starts fine and idles, then as soon as you move the throttle forward at all the engine immediately cuts off. There are also times where there is a long beep.

Has anyone else ever experienced this problem with their boat? It seems there could be a multitude of issues from the fuel pump, to overheating, to oil injection.

Please let me know how further of detail I need to go in to if you have any suggestions.

Thank you!

Tell me more.Does the beep happen all the time or as soon as you move the throttle fwd.Does it beep when idling and is there any pattern to it.Are you in fwd or reverse or neutral.

The boat will start to accelerate and maybe run up to a minute and then there is one long beep (relative to the two short beeps when connecting lanyard) and the engine shuts down about 2 sec later. Then the time the engine runs shortens, but always the one long beep before it eventually shuts down. The gas gague does not work. Never been in reverse and it happens when in forward. Seems to idle ok. This boat has yet to get on top of water to run.

I'm still torn between fuel or electrical. If it idles for say 1 minute vs 10 minutes, did it do exactly the same thing?

And try the reverse thing, what happens.
