I had my 2004 Seadoo RXP out on the water yesterday and as I was pulling in to put it on the floating docks I sucked up some debris. I wasn't able to accelerate it at all past idle without the whole hull rumbling and not gaining any speed. I idled it to the boat ramp and put it on the trailer to inspect it. I took the grate off to look inside the impeller. I found a piece of seaweed wrapped around the shaft and a stick about 3/8 thick and half an inch long stuck on one of the blades. I was able to remove both pieces of debris. I launched it back into the water and was able to get it to go about 10mph before the hull rumbling occurred again.

I do no see any damage to the blades or any internals through the grate area or from the back. There is, however, a floating plastic ring on the shaft that I am not sure where it belongs (maybe the reason for all of this?). Does anyone have any ideas on this problem? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

How big around is the ring you speak of?

Is the wear ring damaged?

I'm guessing is is the seal lunate looking at. If so, you can easily sink the ski and will have serious cavitation. This needs replaced before hitting the water....

i was thinking the same thing joe..

have you checked inside the hull for water? is the ski still in the water? because it might not be when you get back...

if possible can you get a picture of the ring you are talking about?

The ski took on no water at all, even when we put it back in after removing the debris. I did happen to go in and talk to my local motorsports company that does repairs on PWC. He said the plastic ring is supposed to be a cover for the splines to keep water away from the grease and wouldn't cause this issue. He was thinking it is probably a bent blade on the impeller which would cause the ski to cavitate. The wear ring doesn't appear to be damaged other than what looks like normal wear. The plastic ring is probably 1/4" bigger than the shaft

I will get some pictures up tomorrow when I have daylight of the impeller and internals.

see if the shaft has lateral movement with your hand on it,,that black ring could be rattling around on the shaft causing it to be a balance issue, the wear ring and impeller look good to me
