2004 GTX Wakeboard start/stop button question

I have a 2004 GTX Wakeboard and my start/ stop button seams to be getting worn out. I have to push it quite hard to engage the starter. Anyone have this problem? I have not tried to pull apart the switch housing and look behind the red rubber cover. Is there a switch under the cover or does that red rubber thing just wear out?

Pull it apart and check it out. If you pull the lanyard off to shut it off, it will make the start stop switch last longer.
