Went to start it today and will only do half of a turn then quickly halt turning over. After that holding down the start button a clicking noise is coming from the relay. I tried putting in a fresh battery and it is still doing the same thing. Tried tap starting it at the relay and still only does half of a turn. Is it the starter or something else?

Almost sounds like there is something in the motor preventing from turning over. Pull the plugs and try it again with no compression.

First off thanks Coastiejoe. So I pulled the plugs tonight and I was able to get it to turn and a bunch of yellow odorless fluid shot out. Afterwards I put the plugs back in and it started to turn more, but slugish. Could that fluid have been water? It has been covered since the last time Iran it a week ago and it has been high and dry. But that last time I took it out I almost ran it dry and I know water is will sit at the bottom of the tank.

AS it is hard to be anything else, it is likely water. I do not know much about the 04 version of your ski. Does it have a closed cooling system or does it use the lake water to cool the engine. If it has a closed system, see if your antifreeze is low. If so, you may have a crack or a bad gasket allowing the coolant to leak into your cylinders.

Also take a look at your engine oil. See if it is nice and clean or has a milky color to it. If milky, you have water in your oil. Right now all I am trying to do is figure out where the liquid has come from. I would remove the plugs again and spay a TON of WD-40 into the cylinders and let it sit a bit (with the plugs out). This will lubricate the walls again as well as help with compression as it will sit on the rings and help seal the combustion chamber. After a couple of hours, crank the engine and let it spray the extra WD 40 out of the spark plug holes.

At that point, I would install NEW plugs as the others are likely affected by whatever was in there and may not be in great shape. Once the new plugs are installed, see if it starts...

Let us know what you get based on my above suggestions and we may be able to help you more.

Liquids just do not compress... yellow liquid sure sounds strange. Have you been boating in some yellow inlets in Florida lately? LOL!

An '04 model would have the closed-loop cooling system I'm pretty sure there's a coolant bottle in the engine compartment have you checked it lately is it at the correct level or have you had to add any coolant to it lately? ps. Coolant systems should be flushed out and refilled with fresh anti-freeze every ~3 years as part of preventive maintanence.

Can you elaborate on what you almost ran dry last time out, and what tank you're referring to? The fuel tank perhaps? Do you use a fuel stabalizer in your fuel? You should, every fillup! Put a can of SeaFoam in the tank and fill it up before trying to start it again.

when I charged the battery full it started right up. But only when I bypassed the solenoid (by touching the terminals together) , so i went out and bought a new solenoid. Installed it, and it did not start. So I charged the battery full again and it started ( figuring it was a bad battery ). Went and bought a new battery. Installed it, and it stated after a couple hits of the start button. NOW, with a new battery and new solenoid, it does this , see video. Now I am back to square one and 160$ in, and I'm quite frustrated =)

With a new battery and relay installed..correctly I'm assuming....it fired...but won't anymore.

mmmhmmm...frustrated. How'd all that crap get in your motor again?

You look at that oil yet?

history please...."water will sit at the bottom of the tank"? What water?...How'd water get in your fuel tank? You had a discernable amount of "oderless yellow crap" shoot out of your cylinders.

Wanna tell me that ski was sunk or at the very least run on the hose and incorrectly shut off?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the yellow liquid is antifreeze and you have a head gasket leak. check your antifreeze level, I'm guessing it's low. take your plugs out again and crank over, guessing again that it cranks over normally and blows out this mysterious yellow/green liquid that came from nowhere.

you guys have been a huge help ! ... here is the conclusion..

There was water in the motor.. which was guessed with the yellow orderless fluid.. it is because i have been flushing out the seadoo wrong.

Wrong way - connect hose, turn on water , turn on motor, shut off motor, shut off water..
Right way - connect hose, Turn on motor, turn on water, turn off water, rev engine, turn off motor...

When ever I installed something new, i would fire it up, it would fire, then turn it off immediately.. then i would connect the hose to it ( to run it for a couple mins ) and try to fire it and it wouldn't.. thus flooding.. I was never instructed how to properly flush it out.. i thought fresh water was good.. If it was a rookie mistake, lesson learned on my part. if not, Let this be a lesson for others not to do the same..

PS: this web site is the shit. i would of been w out a paddle if it was for you guys.. thanks !

Yep,,, that would do it.

You were literally filling the cylinders up.

If you have caused no damage and all is running well, consider this a pretty cheap lesson...

You ain't outa the woods yet. Like Joe said....if nuthin got bent with all the cranking on a hydro-locked motor...you did get lucky.

Here's the good news...start buying some cheap oil and start flushing that motor till the water's gone...then one last time with the good sheet and a new filter.

Uhm..."flushing" refers to multiple oil changes...heh
