Hello , My name is David , bought this Seadoo LRV DI last fall just a day after it was serviced, rectifier replacement , owner showed me the bill, it ran fine for about 2 hrs then it started to have what i would call ignition breakdown after 45-4800 rpm, then a maint light came on went into limp mode. took it to the dealer here and had a scan done and was told it had no recient codes, he reset and told me to take it out again and make it do it again,( because it wouldn't do it on a trailer) . So anyway i got busy at work and never got it to the water or back to dealer last fall. Took it out last week and sure enough it did the same. So back to the dealer yesterday to have it scanned again, He started saying a fuel pump issue, then could be a charging issue the said it had a encoder not syncing code?????. I asked about a small amt of oil in the bildge . and he said not to worry about that, the engine compartment is spotless other than about a ounce of oil i have cleaned out. Now he thinks the crank bearings are wore causing the cps to throw a code. Time and labour to replace bearings $1500.00 . After watching and reading up on the 951 di the counterbalance shaft is all that could that type of oil, and it looks like you need to dam near pull motor to check that oil. can anyone offer advice on the ignition breakdown/ encoder code ? and the oil , how to check. it has only 142 hrs and is like new , i dont think they were hard hrs. thanks David.

Few really know how to diagnose a DI ski.

Couple of simple things. Unplug the rectifier and see if the issue goes away.

If not, next thing to check is the fuel pump pressure. At idle it should be 107 psi. With a DI ski fuel pressure is CRITICAL.

thanks for the reply, I wondered if i should just try another rectifier, and for the fuel psi i just ''T'' into the line? The online service manual said to check rectifier regulator operation for the encoder fault , nothing to do with cps , or bearings. i was also worried about the oil in bildge as well thinking it might have leaked from the counter balance part of case, but i just removed the air box and there is oil in there, prob fogging oil ?? maybe thats what i see ! I don't like the looks of those counterbalance shafts and cases when they blow. do you know how to check ? change ? in a lrv ?

First try to simply unplug it. Some out out A/C voltage and it screws with the MPEM.

Some engines have a Shrader Valve, but I don't think yours does. If so, great, if not, then yes, T it in.

did some multi meter tests, battery tested @ 12.48volts not running , rectifier tested ok, but it was replaced day before i bought ski, now the stator tested 0.00 across all 3 phases, but no short to ground, voltage tested @ 12.9 max @ approx 5500 rpm, is the stator junkola ?? thanks
