Ok so I have a 2002 xp and am looking to make it a bit faster. I am not looking into doing too many engine mods cuz I hear that can shorten the life of the motor. Looking for any and all suggestions. Links would be great for the suggested products if you have them... Thanks>>>

I also have a 02 xp with a new intake grate and impeller and noticed a better hole shot better handling and roughly 2 mph gain.. Im also curious what else there is to modify? I'm getting my carbs rebuilt and performance spark arrestors as we speak. I found these:

But i have no idea what modifications are better to do first (Besides impeller and intake grate)..

Intake grates do actually slow you down. Mainly by about 2 mph. Its extra drag in the water. They work great holding you down in rough water, thats it. An impeller will help in 1 area, not both or all of us would have that 1 prop. The best hook up prop is the Scat Swirl. Probably the best top speed prop is the Solas Concord.

As far as mods, first, filter and jet kit. Simple but effective. Next send the head out to get it modded. Still reliable, just more punch on it. After that, exhaust are expensive and require more in depth tuning. Reeds, not really worth it until you get into motor work. Its all in how deep you want to go. If you know how to listen to the motor and can hear it, you can tune easier and know when things are going to hit the fan.

Your looking at some good stuff, I have an R&D ride plate, about as long as the extender here, and I took it off. Put my stock on and gained 2 mph on a GPS every pass. The pump wedge, never ran one, but I found the most RPM at trim half up, when I go all the way, I loose 500 RPM. As far as filters, FLY or PROK allow the most air flow, period. More air=more power.

Read this...you'll learn alot...we've all read so much trying to learn.
