I have a 2002 Bombardier that started making noise about a mile from my dock. I idled back most of the way, but within 200 yards gave it a little extra gas hoping that if something were caught in the impeller, it might clear. It didn’t clear, but instead made a “poom!” sound and shut off. When I tried to restart, it tries, but the motor won’t turn over. It’s as if it’s froze. I don’t think it’s really seized up, and I have always kept the oil reservoir full. When I pulled it out of the water, I discovered that the “cone” is missing. Up until then, it always started easily and ran great. My local dealer won’t touch one that old, so I’m in the process of buying a replacement cone (and screws and oil), but could that have anything to do with why the motor won’t turn over?
*I tried to attach a picture, but the attachment manager is not working.

The pump is going to need to come off, without the cone on, the bearings and shaft are exposed to the water. Probably rusted and locked up.Once its off then try and turn the motor.

Thanks, ace422! I guess I should hold off buying any parts until I see the pump situation. Maybe I could purchase a whole unit somewhere if it's beyond repair.

Yup I would wait, take it off and check it out.

I pulled the jet pump/impeller assembly and just as you said, the motor turns over fine. Now I need that whole unit because when it seized up, it looks like it cracked the bolt holes on the impeller housing. Anyone know where I can get the whole assembly?2002 Seadoo GTI pump assemblyr.JPG
And how do I measure to know if it's a 140MM or 155MM?

I recently had to get a new pump & housing for my 03 GTI. I got a used one from Minnetonka4me at a great price & im completely happy with it. He's quick to respond to a PM to

Thats a 155mm pump. Getting the prop off might be tricky, do you have a prop tool to get it off? PM replied.

Thanks for the help, I got a rebuilt jet pump, but had to spring for a new impeller. My impeller was fused to the old jet pump. But it's ok, with the new wear ring and impeller, it's like a new ski! It used to only get around 28MPH, but now it screams around 45MPH.
