Still working on GSX-RFI that took on water. Charging system checked at battery at 12.2 volts running or not check all fuses, need to no how to trouble shoot rectifiar, seem logical problem was under water, ordered sevice manual , any help please Thanks

The early RFI's a known to have a weak regulator. If you don't show any extra voltage after the engine starts... then it's time to replace the reg.

it could be the rectifier AND OR magneto.

if the magneto is not putting out any juice, the rectifier (converts XX volts A/C to something something DC) won't appear to put out any.

Check the magneto as well. that's what fried on my 02 XP last year.

Just check across the yellow wires with a meter. The should all be about the same resistance, and none should be going to ground.

Unregulated AC current is produced by the magneto
for the ignition system (0 to 40 000 Vac). Part
of the AC current is rectified and regulated for the
charging system.
A 12 volts battery supplies the Multi-Purpose Electronic
Module (MPEM) with DC current.
Refer to CHARGING SYSTEM.
Three types of ignition systems are used:
– Digital Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI)
– Direct Current-Digital Capacitor Discharge Ignition
(DC-CDI)
– Digital Inductive System.
Magneto System
The magneto is the primary source of electrical
energy. It transforms magnetic field into electric
current (AC).

Trigger Coil Verification
947 Engines
STATIC TEST: CONTINUITY
1. Disconnect magneto wiring harness connector.
2. Install the 6-pin magneto harness adapter (P/N
295 000 136).
3. Connect one of the multimeter probes to the
WHITE wire of the 6-pin magneto harness adapter.
4. Connect the other multimeter probe to the
BLACK/YELLOW wire of the 6-pin magneto harness
adapter.
5. Measure resistance; it should be between 190-
300 ohms.

this is for a 2001 947 engine, but it should be similar.

I personally didn't have the tool to test it, so i asked my dealer to test it, for 1/4 hr labor they said the magneto was bad... when i removed it from the ski, it had several burn spots on it.... (the tool being the sea-doo 295 000 136) i do own a multimeter...

so $ for the tool, or less $ for a quick yes/no from dealer...
