I have a 2001 Seadoo GTX DI 951. I'm trying to remove the black exhaust pipe. There's 3 allen bolts and one nut in the back. How do you remove the bolts and nut? I was able to remove the front bolt, I'm able to turn the other bolts but taking forever. I tried getting a box wrench on the nut but how the hell do you get it off. I believe its a 15 mm nut but what is the trick to remove the nut and bolts? I picked a bad day to quit drinking. This think is harder to work on than a freaking Audi. Does anyone have step by step instructions to get this exhaust pipe off. I also removed the bolts(6) from what the black exhaust pipe bolts to figuring I could take that piece off with the black exhaust pipe and that piece is not even moving. Sorry I don't have the formal names to everything

remove the carbs/injectors, which are blocking your access. once those are removed it's a 15mm open end wrench that will take it off. you don't have to pull it off the whole way, only loosen it. the pipe will slide up from it. you do have to remove the 3 bolts however. I believe they are 5 or 6mm, and I use a 1/4 ratchet w/a 2" extension and some Ace 1/4" allen drivers. works pretty well. I can do the 951 in my sleep at this point. or drunk. The last set of carbs I put on was at 3 AM and I was lit. woke up the next day... completely forgot I did that. Ski fired right up.

I agree with sabr, drop the throttle bodies & you will have a lot more room. A good quality 15mm opened end wrench will do the job. Ball tiped allen drivers work well for the others, but it will need to be a good quality tool as well. They are easy once you have done a few.

OK so how do you get the pipe out. I am trying to take it out as an assembly without taking the clamp off in the middle since the two pieces are locked together. I need to pull it because one of the plugs has rotted. This ski was a salt water ski, so nothing comes apart easy.

I use the special tool 1of500 mentioned then split the pipe. After a couple times of struggling, l can now have the pipe out in less that 15 min. The special tool makes it a snap. I currently have a 2001 gtx di apart rebuilding the engine. You should have the rubber gasket that fits in a groove of the exhaust manifold. If that gasket is not worn you can reuse it.
When I change the oil filter on these di skis I always remove the tuned pipe for easy access. Doesn't take but a few minutes to get it out of the way.
Order the wrench, sit back and relax until it comes...then get that pipe out.

JHJesse,

That was the easiest part to remove. I needed to find the hex head screw under the fuel rail. Once I found that, it came out easy once I donated skin to the jet ski gods.

Haha skin donation is part of the fun.
