Hi everyone. I just joined the forum and sure hope I can get some help to get this ski in the water and try and enjoy the beautiful short season here in Mystic, Ct.
I bought this 2000 GTX DI Mill w/951 motor 3 years ago and it was great the first year (except for 2 sinkings). The second year it started getting charging problems then when I went to troubleshoot that the bendix froze up so the starter just spins now (this model has the remote bendix in the case). There are virtually no places that work on skis here and the one that does wants 1500 up front and no gaurentee of a fix. So I guess it's up to me. I am going to pull the engine to fix the bendix and my question is what else should I check/replace while I have it out. I will do the stator since that could be the original charging problem. I have the shop manual, just hope it's not a nightmare job. Also any thoughts on disabling the oil injection/blocking off the pump. I heard the Rotax engine still needs oil in the gearcase though. Thanks!

You ski is a direct injection so you can NOT premix or you will roast the motor as for the bendix abd stator I'm not sure if you have the shop manual just follow the procdure and you should be fine just test it before just going ahead and replacing it

OK...on those "sinkings" you got water in the front mag housing. It took out your bendix.

Stators are cheap enough to replace, but you will prob find that isnt the issue. Its the Rectifier...which is part of the MPEM. you need to look up a "external rectifier kit" PM me for more info.

Now...this job will not be fun at all. You will need a 15mm obstruction wrench, a good flywheel puller as far as special tools go.

Take the head pipe off, take the front motor mount out, prop the engine up, pull the front cover off. Pull the flywheel and you will be able to get the bendix out. Clean everything up, and put a little RTV around the front cover before reinstall.

NOTE: I just saw its a DI (are you sure?) instructions may vary.

Thanks. I do have the manual, I have to find out the tools/materials I need to put the engine back in. Hope it goes easy......B

I already replaced the rectifier and battery. I guess I should do a static test on the stator before replacing it. You're saying the motor does not have to be pulled to do the bendix or stator? It is a DI model. It ran fine before just wasn't charging. Went in limp mode with a low battery in about a hour.

No it doesnt...and it helps that its a GTX space wise. Not a fun project, but doable w/o pulling the motor.

My brother has a good used stator for a DI I think...he may have sold it with the motor.

Thanks for all the info. I will get wrenching tonite. Nice to know I don't have to pull the drive out....
