just bought a blown up 2000 gtx carb 951 ski. front cylinder is scored up pretty bad , which ended up seizing. ski has only 64 original hours. Trying to figure out why this happened before i rebuild it and can't find the reason why. The gaskets were pretty brittle and one of the small oil lines where popped off in the the front of the motor but don't know if i knocked them during disassembly. Any ideas or things to check for to make sure this doesn't happen again?

Could be a bunch of reasons. Can you post up a few pictures of the bad piston?

Some thoughts...

1) Lack of oil. (if that hose was damaged before, or if the oil filter was plugged up)

2) Wrong oil. (Seadoo engines need an API-TC oil. Many people buy cheap TC-w3 "Outboard" oil. The 951 won't live long on it)

3) Lean run. (Plugged fuel system will make an 2-stroke run hot)

4) Damage from neglect. (The engine could have had water in it, and stat. That would cause internal rust, and damage, the next time it was run)
