Hey all,

Working on a 2000 GTI with a 720.

The craft was put in the water without drain plugs in. It took on water and an attempt was made to start it. The engine ingested water and made a gray sludge. I had to completely disassemble the engine and clean it all out.
Engine is back and and will spin over but not start. It has spark on both cylinders, good primary and secondary compression. The rotary valve is timed correctly and ignition timing is correct.
The carb was clogged pretty bad and I don't think I was able to get it all out.
I don't have much experience working on water crafts, but when I crank it over should I be feeling a pulse at the throat of the carb? I know the cylinders are not getting fuel. i can crank it all day and never smell any fuel, no wet plugs. If rotary timing is good, crankcase pulse is good, then it must be the carb?
Any help would be greatly appricated.
Thanks

make sure when the rv was installed, that the mag piston was TDC, and that the MAG port hole was exposed.

With the fuel/carb, run the "RES" line, straight to the carb, bypass the filter, selector valve for now. While carb is off, clean away, remove the hsa/lsa adjusters,..etc, and spray.

Re-install everything, and give it a shot.

Remove the return fuel line and see it anything comes out when you crank it over.
Use a short line on carb nipple and into a catch bottle. If nothing comes out remove the Supply line
and put that into your catch bottle, then use about 5-10 psi air pressure into
the return line. If gas comes out the fuel will route, and now you can check your fuel selector valve, and see if the filter/separator leaks. That only leaves the carb
to fix. Hope this helps.
