Bought a 2013 GTI 130 and a wake pro 215. I got them 7/28/2014 so less than 30 days of posting this. On the weekend of Aug 8th my wake pro 215 somehow became desync from the normal key and the dealer was closed till Tuesday so lost that weekend on that jet ski. I brought both jet skis in on the 15th which is a friday to get the key problem fixed. They reprogrammed both keys to both jet skis, so either key starts either jet skis. Started both before I left dealer with both keys and had no problems. I put the jet skis back into storage. Then the weekend of the 22nd my wife and I we to a lake for the weekend with them. 22nd we settled in and on saturday the 23rd we wanted to ride them. This is what happened.

GTI 130:
The screen would only flicker for a sec then turn off. I couldn't get the screen to turn on. So I dropped everything and went to the dealer before they closed (they are not open sundays and mondays). After an hour drive to the dealer we find out the batteries dead. So the dealer put a fully charged new battery in. Once they did that the screen turned on with out anyone touching anything. We then put the key on and it tried to start with no one touching the start button. Then we pulled the key off and the screen stayed lite but then it was reading key. We couldnt get the screen off. It also would short beep once randomly. They plugged it in to the computer and it has a IBR fault and a low voltage fault. They told me they need to keep it to work on it but not to worry because its covered under warranty. I was still upset though because it was the second weekend I lost a ski, and they were not sure they could have it fixed by labor day weekend and my wife and I are going camping with our skis 6 hours away. I asked for a loaner but they said they do not do loaners. This is really upsetting to me it has 9 hours on it I feel really ripped off and kinda disappointed with the sea doo brand.

Almost every issue you speak of sounds like a low volt situation. When there are low volts, electronics do some very strange things. It sounds like at one point your solenoid was stuck closed. Which again, is a low volt concern. They arc internally and the arc welds the plate in the engaged position. With normal high volts, this does not happen as the disk slams closed and does not have time to weld per-say...

So what happened is the black relay in the fuse box went bad and they replaced it. It works fine now. They said this happens because there is usually a little water inside the ski and it gets hot, then the fuse box sweats. So does anyone know how I can prevent this in the future? Or should I just buy a spare relay?

C'mon....a fuse box sweats?....sweats what?...the lil bit of water...that made it into the hull...w/o being on the water...caused the fuse box to break out in cold sweats?...and then corrode a starter relay?

Okay....Lemme start again...I'm not trying to be a dck...but I need some more info here...

Exactly how many times did you manage to ride those skis before any probs started?

I know its weird because I am 28 years old and have never had a relay go out on me and I have old cars my whole life. I just assumed its a flaw in sea doo design.

Sounds a little like water damage. Water is definitely the enemy, were these skis sunk or the hulls had been flooded with water?

If you want to avoid the condensation accumulating and permeating into the electronics then avoid allowing the hull to fill with water and during times of storage lift the seat so that air can circulate through the bilge and things inside can dry out.

It could be some of the electronics was exposed to moisture/water b/c the rubber gaskets on the protective covers and electrical boxes, etc., were not installed correctly.

The one that had the relay problem had 9 hours on it. They said they changed the relay and now I don't have a problem.

Okay...from your first post I didn't see the skis being used...at all...prior to your troubles. If the bad relay was the prob I'm glad they got it fixed for you. Just odd is all. I dunno how many hrs I got on my ski.....220?...I've replaced 1 relay. And that was at the beginning of maybe...3rd season.

I see where you live on the left coast...in rainy WashState. I'd be draining those things after every ride...and hitting everything in the eng bay with wd40 afterwards.

wd40 helps with rust? Thats good to know. Got any other advice?

If you're riding in salt I'd be flushing the exhaust after every ride. I'd be making sure my prop shaft was clean and coated after every ride as well...seen some awfully nasty ones from those that didn't.

There is a product called SaltAway...some use that instead of wd. There is another product....FluidFilm...Outstanding...but messy.

what do I put on my prop shaft? Yesterday a friend of mine sucked up a rope and it rapped around the drive shaft and stopped the engine. I took it out of the water and got the rope off. Nothing looks damaged and it runs fine. Is there anything else I should do at this point?
