Hopefully you more experienced owners can offer some advise.

I inherited a 150 hour 2002 GTX Limited 4-tec. In needed some work so I spent $ 1,500.00 in replacing the hoses and clamps, replacing the steering cable and replacing the seals on the drive shaft. These were replaced because the ski kept leaking the oil into the hull when in use. A complete tune up was also done.

I have used it for about ten hours and now the drive shaft is broken. The shop is telling me the engine has to come out to replace the shaft and the gear inside. tech said the bearings that drive the impeller and the wear ring have to be replaced also. I'm sure another $ 800 - $ 1,000

My question concern, is should I keep at it or cut my losses. I am concerned if this ski is worth the $$$ or sell it. The engine is good condition. The tech also didn't help by telling me that this jet ski gives a alot of trouble.

Any advise is appreciated.

I am a new owner for a 2002 GTX ltd. as well, but I am all new to these things.

I am not sure how much you paid for it, but I would say if the engine is still in good condition, and with only 150 hours on it, it seems like it would be worth fixing.

You are probably right. I am just concerned with the type of repair it needs now if it's smart to continue putting money into it. I also don't know how reliable this unit will be going forward.

Good Luck with yours!
