I have a couple of things going wrong with my boat. Fathers day was the first time I took it out this years. As soon as I left the ramp area I noticed it took longer than usual to plane. Once it finally planed it was smooth sailing, top speed felt the same. Then I sucked up a few medium size rocks, 2-3 inches. They went into the driver side jet pump, the boat was really shakey. I shut it off and later tuned it back on. The banging and shakey went away. I trailered it and inspected, I have two rocks wedged in the outer part of the jet. So I have looked threw the threads and read up a bit. Seems like maybe a wear ring could have been causing the "cavitating". But now that i sucked the rocks in I will probably need to replace the impellor. Since I have to replace on impellor might as well replace both and upgrade. So I am looking at two wear rings, two impellors. My question is what impellor would be best, and what else should I replace while in there, is there anything else that might be causing the original cavitating. I want to do it right I want to do it once! Thanks for any help you provide.

I recommend Skat Trak "Swirl" impellers. They have the best "out of the hole" perfomance... and that is important with a boat.

I looked at the skat-trak SeaDoo Jet impellers and did not see an impeller for the 1999 Speedster. I see one for the 1999 Speedster SK, I think that model might have smaller cc engines. Has any one put this brand on a 787, specificly a 1999 speedter with twin 787's.

I have Skat Trak Swirls on my 98 Speedster with the twin 787's, and I love them but personally I think they are application specific. Coming from factory impellers, my hole shot seemed improved, midrange acceleration improved, hard turns starboard doesnt cause cavitation in the port pump, overall they grab the water much better than stock and the boat just feels more powerful.
But the extra power seems to come at the expense of speed and efficiency. I lost 2-3 mph across the upper RPM range, so an hour of cruising at a given RPM you will travel 2-3 miles less distance on the same amount of fuel as the stock impellers.
My opinion, if you do a lot of towing tubes, skiers, etc or thrill riding like myself, Swirls are awesome and absolutely the right choice. If my boating purpose was mainly cruising, I am not sure I would be happy with the Swirls.
