Well, I must say, at 50, I think I'm about done with the twin engine configurations. I'm not as limber as I used to be and it seems that when it comes to putting motors inside of boats (or cars/trucks for that matter), the engineers have done all they can to keep me from getting inside these things to do the job!........

Here, I've attached two pics of me doing an engine replacement on the 1998 Sporster with the twin 787's. The guy got the boat for a steal, with the starboard engine blown. One pix is after laying the engine in, the next is of me inside the compartment with the engine, running the rotary shaft inlet oil line.

I think I'll stick with the single engine Challenger. Plenty of room in there for a picnic!..............

I feel your pain…

I’m only 37, but I abused my body racing SCORE off-road in my younger years. Now, with a bad knee, back, both shoulders, and an elbow… I had a hard time changing the float in my sportster the other day. Also… like you, I own my own shop, and have a rough time working on things sometimes. But, my biz is with motorcycles, and I can usually just sit on a stool beside the bike.

I guess you need to grow to the point where you can hire a young kid to crawl into the engine compartments.

Snipe,

The engine bay looks roomy to me but my lcd monitor has a spot burned into it after viewing your texas sized butt.

I hear ya. I got my twin engine challenger with blown engines, and spent what felt like months learning and replacing things. I actually built a little seat/support so I could sit in there! Silly I know, but better than holding yourself is some strange position.
Good luck and keep going! Hope I can still get in there at 50

Greez Craig, I hope you don't have any Texas Sized problems with your seadoo...you might not get any help, advise, or even a response with compliments like that... :ack:

Uh...do you make it a habit of looking at guy's butts? I could understand a girl in a bikini...but a teck. working on a seadoo??? I missed something...

Ok...Craig likes guy's butt's...Not that's there's anything wrong with that...each to their own...:ack:

Trust me when I say thats not the case Karl but I'll laugh at myself as much as I'll have fun with on my friends as well. My initial thought was...Was that a BRP 787 or Snipes butt?:rofl:

I wanna know where I can get a shirt like that! :)

Gotta say that is a pretty clean looking engine compartment too.

Photo shop....

The shirt, along with my avatar are called, "photoshop"...........LOL

I actually cut out letters over a year ago when I was first trying to do that when my wife said, "wouldn't that be much easier just putting it in with the text button in our photoshop program"...........so as not to look dumb, I told her I was doing it as a project.........I don't think she bought it. But I wasn't willing to admit my ignorance. So now, I use my photoshop on all my pix....

Oh Craig, ..........you can look at my butt all you want. I told my wife, she said it was a lot larger than the size of Texas. Oh course, this opened a new bag of worms in our quiet night in bed, talking about the flab on my backside!....thanks dude!

BTW, .....at 5'10" and 160lbs, I'm sure there is no way anyone 1 pound or 1" bigger could fit in there. Oh, I was trying to bleed the oil lines and got the job done using my trusty drill motor and special attachment I made for spinning the shaft on the oil pump......I can look inside at the rotary valve and see the oil actually draining from the fittings, so I have no doubts that oil is not making its way into the engine. I just like to know all's well before I start a new SBT engine.
