I picked up a 98 speedster a few weeks back.

Have a question about a thru-hull fitting in the back of the boat:

On the transom, ABOVE the swimstep, on the Starboard side is a thru-hull fitting.

1. Is this a factory thru-hull?

2. What is it supposed to be draining?

There is a hose attached to it but it's just laying in the bilge - doesn't go anywhere. Is this for the deck drain in the cockpit?

I know about the pee holes behind the tow ring - those are all hooked up and working, and the bilge is plumbed to a thru-hull centerline UNDER the swim step.

Haven't found anything about it in the manual.

Help a brother out.

mine has a drain hose from the cockpit/passenger area corner, goes straight out the back...its a 1 1/2" - 2" white hose...just a drain for that area, that sound like it?

Seadoobie is referring to the scupper valve drain. Without a pic it sounds like the other flush fitting. Is it black and a garden hose screws into it?

Ok, will try and get a picture posted this weekend - fishing trip off the coast tomorrow (no, not in the Speedster) will try and snap a few pics whilst grilling fresh Ling.

Don't think it's the scupper - this hole is ABOVE the swimstep - think the scuppers are below. Standard white nylon flush thru-hull fitting with a hose barb on the inside (not the motor flush outs - those are mounted vertically on each side and take a garden hose)

The hose attached looks like it has been there a long time - clear/yellowed tygon type 1/2" hose - one end is on the thru-hull in the transom and the other end was lying in the bilge - still with a ring clamp on it like it fell off of something. Maybe the PO added another bilge pump at one time?

I checked mine. There is only 1 fitting in that area. That is the bildge dump. It's recessed in a square notch in the hull. That must have been done by the PO
