We have a 1998 Seadoo GTS. It was running good when we first put in the water. Now, it idles fine and runs at a low speed okay. When you give it gas to go faster it bogs down and dies. We changed the spark plugs, cleaned the air filter and sprayed carburetor cleaner in the carburetor. We are out of ideas. Anyone have any ideas?

my 95 was the same

I agree with checking how it runs on reserve. My 95 GTS was doing this on the main tank, but ran OK on the reserve. I found the switch body to be clogged with rubbery gunk. Cleaned it out and now it is fine on the main tank.

You may also need to take the carburetor off and COMPLETELY rebuild it. 11 years is a long time for a non rebuilt carb.

We put the Seadoo in the shop, they say it needs a fuel system overhaul. They told us it would be $1400. That sounds too high to me. Does that sound like a good price? I don't think the jet ski in worth that much.

WOW! How do these get away with this! Run away with Seadoo in hand and go get a second opinion. If they charge $1400 to overhaul the fuel system i would hate to see what they charge if it needed to be rebuilt!

Dude..go get your ski, and hit the forum up for "removal of carbs" AFTER you've attempted it/looked at diagram of carb...takes 20 minutes, brother.

Goo is from factory grey fuel lines. replace them with automotive hose. clean filter in carbs. that should get it going.

Okay, we picked up the ski... the service people blew out the fuel lines and cleaned the filters. They told us to test it in the water. We went to the lake today and it ran really good for about 45 minutes. We ran it wide open and everything was great. Then in started hesitating while it was running wide open. A while later it started only going about 30 mph. Could it be bad gas or could the gas in the reserve be bad? It is confusing since it ran good for so long.

Until you replace the grey lines your problem will never go away. very important: Replace grey lines, Clean your 3 filters, clean fuel selector valve. You do that and your problem will be solved.
