Guys, my GTX if it sits for a few days is a bitch to start.. Once it starts it fires right up.. Its weird because if I start it today it will start right up tomorrow... If I let it sit 3 days its terrible. Its still cold esp at night here on long island.. Now here's the kicker.. The are carbs are new not rebuilt,, The motor is rebuilt by pwc engine with 0 hours .. All fuel lines are changed and there is brand new gas in the tank.. One thing I havent tried when its been cold is pumping the throttle 3x before choke starting cold.. Any other suggestions?? Once started It idles at 2850 on the hose and runs like a F%*king top!!

Although carbs are new..doesn't mean they may not be slowly flooding engine....I would also check fuel cap to make sure it is not pressurising tank (loosen cap and see if it makes a difference)....again slowly flooding engine......Its were I would start to look..You could also pull plugs they may tell you whats going on...black too rich etc.

I'm going to pull the plugs later on today, shorten the gap a bit and see how they look.. Everything is new on this machine.

it's a very large, 2 stroke, carb engine... i've never had a 951 that was super easy to start.

3x on the throttle, then choke it, no throttle.

after they are warm they fire up well.

there's no fuel pressure until the engine starts, this isn't a turn key EFI machine... it's old school...

long as it starts, you're doing fine :)
